Shannon left me at home all alone this afternoon,

I'm not used to being at home alone.

I assured her that I wouldn't get into any trouble....

But what could I do to entertain myself.

I had a couple of ideas.....

Any honest, self-respecting guy would never

think of starting a "home alone" party without Sugar!!

Therefore, I decided to whip up a batch of

Homemade Ice Cream!!

The Ice Cream got me a little sticky, so I thought that

I should jump into the bath and get cleaned up

before my big evening alone.

I brought Shannon's Cosmopolitan magazine to read

during my bath and learned about the "50 ways to seduce a guy like me."

It was a bit of an education!!

After my bath, I read some of Shannon's Glamour magazines

while watching "Real Housewives".

After "Real Housewives", I watched a riveting show

on Bikini waxing and decided that my life would

be miserable as a woman!!

I don't want to talk about what happened here....

After a little while, i found the spare key. Enough said.

After I got back into the house,

Shannon called to check in on me.

I reassured her that I was doing just fine and

that I was on my best behavior.

And then she made a brilliant suggestion.

Something about balancing an egg on a spoon

during the Spring equinox.

After I got off of the phone, I thought, "Hell, it's worth a shot!"

Eggs are tricky critters.

How do I ask Shannon how to clean raw egg

out of the carpet without her getting suspicious?

After the "Egg Incident" I decided to get some

Aluminum foil and go around the neighborhood pretending

to be the "TinMan".

I told every child that I ran into not to be afraid;

that I was only looking for a heart!

They didn't get it...

All of the children that I met seemed terrified of me,

apparently they have never seen the Wizard of Oz.

So I decided to put a smiley face on my mask

to appear more affable!! and then I went back

out into the neighborhood looking for a heart.

For some reason somebody called the police.

A chase ensued; I had forgotten how quickly I

could run, especially when I remembered that

my mask conducted electricity rather well and

the police were all armed with TASERS!!

I don't think that the Police knew about the

Wizard of Oz either.

They are all a bunch of "haters" if you ask me.

Once I got my heart rate back down, I decided to

go to Shannon's favorite reading place to see

if that would help to calm me down.

I tried reading one of the books off of her

bookshelf, but they used words like

"Throbbing" and "Alabaster breasts".

I don't know if all of that reading calmed me down,

but it sure made me sleepy....

so I decided to turn in for the night.

All tucked in, I was ready for a nice cozy sleep.

Reflecting on my afternoon alone, I thought that

I did rather well. At least there were no arrests,

and that egg came right out of the carpet;

Shannon will never know!

However, before turning in, I thought that it

would be a good idea to learn just a little bit more about

what I like and how to seduce me, how does

Glamour know so much about me,

it's like they're inside my head.

This old road is graceful and familiar, I travel it often.

During this time of the week and at this hour of the morning, the traffic is light; there are seldom any distractions.

I ride north on the Old route 195 and pass intersecting dirt roads named after the farmers who tamed the land. Babb road, East Whitman, South Hardesty and then Whittier, Davis and Bradshaw.

The green expanse of the Palouse in June stretches out from horizon to horizon, tumbling across the landscape like waves on the ocean; unencumbered by the harsh constructs of man.

There are no grid-like street patterns, no buildings or sky-scrapers tearing up the rhythm of the hills like a dissonant chord.The hand of man has been here though, laid down by his plow. A soft concerto, easy on the soul, things are tended here, not developed; Pianissimo.

As I ride, I take in the scent of turned earth and wildflowers in bloom.

The wind is cool and soft.

My anxieties relax.

This is the beginning of my Vacation.

"Branyan Fan"/Kid's day at Safeco Field/July 25, 2009

This young fan had the opportunity to visit with Russell Branyan, the First Baseman for the Seattle Mariners during the Pre-Game ceremonies and stubbornly remained on the field long after all of the other kids left.

The Events coordinator can be seen in the white shirt in the bottom of the picture; she was urging him to finish up his conversation with Branyan for fear of holding up the start of the game. The kid coaxed as much time as he could with the big First Baseman before turning and running full sprint towards the Events coordinator.

During his sprint off of the field, the fans in the Grandstands began to applaud the young man's enthusiasm and by the time I took this picture, the cheering had begun to reach a crescendo.
